Browns as parents?
I've heard a lot of people talk about using browns as foster parents. Does this hold true for wild browns?
Thx Dave

Re:Browns as parents?
Hi Dave,
Thats a good question. I have never used foster parents, but I have found that the wild greens I work are extremely protective parents. I would guess that instinct is strong in most wilds.

I agree,
my f2 and f3 browns are still very good instinctive parents, I've seen them flick their fins and vibrate their bodies to "call" fry over.
I've seen domestics do that to, but not too the extreme that the browns do.
although the best foster male I've ever had was a wild royal blue.

IME almost any adult will accept fry from anther fish if they are presented right, tho some will eat them.
Browns are more commonly used because they are the cheapest wilds
