Temperature and Stress
Hi, I was wondering if discus show signs of stress around 82 degrees...my heater recently quit so i got a 250w ebo jager (for a 55 gallon tank) and it can't seem to keep it at 84. Since my old heater quit, i've had one discus show bars and it hides a lot. Any help would be great!

Re:Temperature and Stress
Consider buying a titanium Pro Heat from Aquacave (banner listed at the bottom of this page).
I have troubles with all my glass heaters (300w) heating even a 50g tank above 84. I've had my Pro Heat for about 4 months now and it does a great job.

I don't think 82 degrees is a problem. I keep my tanks around 84. However, I would recommend getting another heater that can keep your tank at 92+ if needed. Use your present heater in your water change barrel or keep on hand as a spare.

Re:Temperature and Stress
I have an ebo 250w in each of my 75 gallon tanks, none of them have a problem bringing the water up to 94'F
Have a lid or anything on the tank? if i leave my tanks uncovered the heaters have to be turned up quite a bit to keep the temp up, or maybe just a bad heater
and having extra heaters around is always good for when you forget to unplug during a water change :

Hi, thanks for the quick replies, I think it may be just a bad heater...good thing i saved the recipt! Yes, the tank is covered with glass lids.
