    Default 1st spawn

    hi all

my female red turq is laying her eggs as i type. the problem is that her eggs don't seem to be sticking to the tank wall.
there's a spawning cone in the tank but she prefers the wall (?).
the biggest problem is that both the male and female is eating the eggs.

as this is the 1st spawn, i don't expect success. however, would like to hear some comments on the egg not sticking and also why not on the cone.

    thanks

I don't know what is lacking when the eggs don't stick. Next time they may be fine. Give them a few more times - they will get the hang of it soon.

Be patient, one of my pair tried for 6-8 times before i got my 1st. batch. However some of them have tried for 10 times without any success.

Eggs don't stick to the wall, i've never heard this before anyway on the cone or wall if a pair did a good job you can have yr baby. ;D

    good luck next time,

When was the last time you scraped the walls of your tank? There could be a slime build up and therefore preventing the eggs to stick because the slim is to slick for them to stick(hey I rhymed!). See if that helps any.

i do daily 25% WC and clean the tank walls/base twice a week.
think my pair is just too young (8-9 months) so i'll just leave them to it and enjoy the whole process.

    thanks everyone ;D
