Default Redness around nostrils and mouth

    Amonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0.2
    Nitrate - N/A
    pH - 7.5

I have had 5 Discus for about 2 weeks now and have just noticed redness around the nortils and mouth of the fish. Only two of the Discus have it. Any ideas? Thank you.

Some look redder than others at times. COuld be normal.

I would be doing at least 50% wc/day due to the new tank and the nitrite.
Also add non iodized salt at 2 tablespoons/10 gal.

Ease up on feeding a bit until the bio cycle gets well established and no more nitrites.

have you been feeding frozen food? some discus develop a kind of "nose bleed" due to a diet of frozen food that were not defrosted before feeding.

if you do feed frozen stuff, try defrosting them before feeding your discus. it might help.

That's interesting Melvin. I also have that condition on a few fish and assumed it was from them running into the glass. I will try defrosting frozen foods before feeding and see if that helps.

    Thanks for the tip,
    Tony

Should bloodworms and glassworms also be defrosted?

    Thank you.
