    Default males fertility

I have read that it is best with young discus to put a female with an older male because of fertility problems with young males, so if a female is ready to spawn at 8 to 9 months can some body please tell me what age a male should be fertile and shooting live rounds ?

p.s I also read that wheat germ is good for male fertility and I do include that in the beef heart mix.

Males generally mature around 12-16 months of age, depending upon the strain. Pigeon bloods mature very early, where as blue diamonds can take up to 2 years to fully mature.

Personally, I wouldn't try to spawn the female until she's fully grown. Some may dispute this but it seems to haly their growth. I have a female that has spawned a little young and she seems to have stopped growing.
