kanamycin sulfate aka kanacyn....... or erythromycin plus metro. 50%v water changes daily, full dose meds after water changes.

With this time course hexamita is not possible, but a bacteria from dead or dying worms/food is.

I would not be surprised if soon all the fish are passing white feces at the same time..

I agree with your call, Al, and your perscription. The antibiotics are a good choice (k and e- myacin) for the bacterial infection the discus picked up from the cbw's. A hex outbreak may follow with the weakened condition.

hi, i did lose one fish, but it was kinda weak anyway. the good news is that the rest seem to be doing much better. they're eating better and starting to act like themselves again. tomorrow will be my third dose of metro, should i add an antibiotic with it? can i use either of the two mentioned above? thanks, jason p

I Like cbw. I see nice growth on discus plus it keeps the tank cleaner than beefheart. My discus loves 'em to the point they won't eat anything else. The key to healthy worms is to rinse them well once a day.

Unfortunately I might have to give up feeding cbw. It's costing me 50 bucks every two weeks. That could be money to buy more discus, lol.

I've seen excellent growth rates with CBW, but they must be washed daily and kept clean and never, never feed dead worms to the fish. I always have use the worm pans AQ foods sells, rinse them daily and the fish love them. I had a batch start to go south on me, Rinsed them until all the dead worms were washed away, the rest of the worms looked good and were very alive, fed my fish and lost 3 fish within 30 minutes. They raced around the tank wildly and died. So I just feed beefheart and bloodworms now. My mistake, but a bad *** LS was lost and I just can't risk that again!

    Hi Ken,
What did you use to clean them out. I think that's the problem I'm having in one of my tank. Metro?

    Thanks

I got my 2lbs couple weeks ago, still very healthy - as long as you rinse them everyday
Mary is a great person to deal with, give her a call you wont regret it.

To me its the same with buying fish, it just comes down to knowing your source.
I've tried saving a few bucks here in So Cal. bad move.
I ended up going back to Aquatic Foods

You're absolutely right John but when you get unexplained problems and it's not the water. The only thing I can think of is that my worms are old even though they are rinse daily.
Hard to blame the worms when I really don't have 100% proof. I guess it's just a process of elimination.

I recently been contemplating not feeding worms anymore.

Mat, One of these days you will show this internal parasite proof! Till then, I go by the tests I have seen- and they show no parasites at all, just some bacteria. and this can be cleaned with water, or for older worms, a touch of Blue. Frank
