If the big head and crooked head and gill defect are due to the water condition, why this defect only happend to a small number of fries? Please don't get me wrong. I am not trying to argue, no no, I wouldn't never do that . I just want to learn something here.

I think that most of backyard/garrage/bathroom breeders like us are always trying to get the best water quality in the breeding tank. But the question is how do we know that the water quality is good enough to rule out defect from the water? All I know is soft water for breeding and clean water to keep the fish healthy. But how clean is CLEAN?
