    ...well, Dave Webber impresses me with his knowledge of the Amazon River system and of Discus again!
    ...Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese are like American English and British English. In the USA it is an elevator, in Great Britian it is a "lift". Spanish and Portuguese are distinctly different languages. The most apparent similiarity would be that Portuguese is much more formal, almost like speaking Spanish in the "vosotros" tense. The difference can be very subtle at times and very clear at others.
