    Awe Heck Rod!, thanks Jim,
Not sure it is a regular Heckel, but it does have some green in the face?
I only have a few, so I am not an expert on the Heckels.

    Koola Rod,
I am still looking for one for the solid colored opercula.
Not sure if they are endemic to a particular area of the Amazon. It did have the most green/blue on the head out of 40 or so Heckels in the last shipment from Brazil.

good ones will , most come up with solid blue faces & gills but only a very few retain that, it usually reduces to blue spots on the gills and a generally lighter body tone than regular Rio Negro heckels. It seems to be very water quality and diet related and heckels water conditions are very hard to maintain in a closed system as pH will crash all the time from the low conductivity. I have had many sold blue heckels arrive..even the whole body was solid blue, but within a coule of weeks they lose much of that blue tone a become striated again
