Luck, Practice and knowing my camera.

It's a Sony Mavica MVC-CD1000 (CD Recordable with 20x Digital Zoom)
Auto focus with steady shot on and flash

I learned a little trick though. It is nearly impossible to get the camera to focus on the fry as they move too fast and are too small. I focus on the parents face or eye and try to time my shots well.
