    Default stringray with discus?

    hi

i am currently quite interested in stringrays and i am wondering if they could have discus as tankmates. Also, will the central system that I am using now be any good for the stringray? Will the sand substrate be bad for the discus?

    Any help is appreciated.

buy the Barron's book by Dr Richard Ross " freshwater stingrays" $8 from amazon .com

any sand must be silica free for rays.
many ray species grow to at least 18" across and are quite active...big tanks are needed, with lots of extra filtration.
Discus prefer a warmer temp than rays, it is a juggling act for an experienced aquarist but it can be done
    hth a bit

    Hi

Thanks David, I am planning to buy the book that you have recommended. But do you know if the sand will have any effect to the discus?
