    Default Hikari's Tubifex

I know tubifex has a notorious reputation for carrying diseases... but has anyone tried Hikari's frozen tubifex?

They claim that it's "sterilized" to kill the nasty stuff..

Hikari's frozen food is actually some of the best frozen food you can by and yes, by having them sterilize it it should be safe. I would not worry. I only like their frozen food though, I dont buy their flakes or pellets though because they contain grain, and discus don't eat grain in the wild as part of their daily diet. Good Luck!

I fed mine hikari tubiflex as an occasional treat for years with no ill effects. I bought the freeze dried cubes. Kinda neat the way you can squish them on the glass and they stick. The fish devoured them. Not as regular diet, though.

I bought four packs of frozenned tubiflex last year after calling hikari and they telling I had nothing to worry about . I posted in the forums and asked and after hearing all the answers about it decided not to use them. They are still in the freezer.

I wouldn't feed tubifex of any sort to discus. There are better options available.
