Default Washington, Oregon, Vancouver BC, Hobbyist

If you are like me you like to hand pick your discus if at all possible.
No shipping cost along with the pleasure of talking to another hobbyist/breeder seeing their setup is always fun and educational.

I live between Duvall and Monroe Washington.
That is about 40 miles east of Seattle

Driving to Oregon or Vancouver BC I'd probably do for the right fish.
My wife and I already had the pleasure of visiting April in Vancouver!
    Thanks April!

Have met Hank in Auborn Washington and bought my first discus from him when I got back in the hobby. Thanks Hank!

I was hoping those of you who live in these state's would post here so we'd get to know each other a bit and hopefully do business with each other some day.

We might even find some of us live close enough together that as friendships develop we could take care of each others fish on long vacations.

If you want to tell a bit about yourself that be cool also.

I'm just getting back into discus again. Been about 5 months now.
Has things ever changed in over 10 years. WOW!

I hope to have my fish room up and have pairs by first half of next year.

Anyways if any of you have fish available now or have timeline for juves in the future let us know.

    Thanks!

Hi April. I need to get some more tanks set up. As you saw my wife really enjoyed seeing your fish. That inspired her. That was great. She loves those big ones.

Spending money on them now isn't going to be an issue as she understands it more. Just the space is, which if finances work out hope to free up my old office building which turned into storage. LOL!

Looking into cheapest way to build storage room, or have brought to property.

Hi Dan. Yes indeed, much better seeing them. Shipping cost kills me since I'm on a really tight budget. I've seen some really nice fish on the forum but I got to stick to my financial plan.

I'm hoping this thread will help me do it and we all win due to the many benefits of knowing each other.

Hi Carol. I've only been as far as Chinook Winds Casino. LOL! My kids loved the place they have huge play area for them. Next summer we hope to go back to Oregon and go down the coast farther. Beautiful state you have there. Great stores along the coast also. I'd love to see your fish some day.

I'm on Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from Greg. I've been an aquarist for a long time, but just recently got discus fever! I just purchased a used 85 gallon tank from Craig's list, and will need to fill it up with some great discus. I'd be happy to go on a road trip with other forum members in search of great discus.

Hi Mike. Craigs list is a great resource for tanks. WTG! I'm not ready for this yet but I saw this on there the other day. I'll throw this out here and maybe someone could tell me if it's a great deal or not? I would think it would be but don't know for sure.

1,500 gallon water tank. Black. Made by Snyder.
Six feet tall and about seven feet wide.
2" threaded outlet and an 18"hatch on top.
Made out of a thick plastic. Actually very easy to handle. Two people can lift one. Can deliver locally for $30.

I don't check email often so it's best to call me at 425.788-1513. Scott.

    Hi Greg,
I got back into Discus a year ago after a 25 year laps during which I spent alot of time with Reef Tanks. I got away from the Aqua-scene completely for a number of years after that. I know what you mean when you say "have things ever changed. WOW!" That was my reaction too. My first discus was a brown from the LFS. My next fish were ordered directly from Jack Wattley, which were of cource his famouse Turqs. Next I had a friend that owned an aquarium shop who ordered some of the brand new Solid Blue Hi-Fin Cobalts from Dr. Schmidt-Foke via Aquarium Rio. At that time the solid blue cobalts were the newest thing around. Yah, things have changed.
Now I have some of Wayne Ng's Leps(4), Spotted Eruptions(2), Maze(3),which are really RT's and 2 Blue Knights. I also have 4 Yellow Crystals I got from Danny Ng, two of which have 20 fry right now at 13 days old. So hopefully I'll have a few of those for sale in the future.
You might want to check out Duncan at N.W.Coast Discus if your gathering a list of North West Discusfolks. He has a fairly large hatchery in Canada. April can steer you in his direction.
Well, I guess that about sums it up so I better go do a W/C and feed the fry, lol.

Hi Kacey. Sounds like you have some beautiful fish.
I'm going to try to find pictures of what yours will look like.
Yes, post here first and hopefully you can skip shipping.

Yes, I hope Duncan posts here so people know about him in that direction.
Next summer we hope to be taking family vacation up near him.
This year we went only to Vancouver on short timeline.
He offered to meet us at the ferry!
Looking forward to seeing his fish and bringing some back.

I understand Glen is in Vancouver also and was told he has nice fish.

My goal is for people to keep in touch here and do business with each other.

Going to be quite a while before I have juves to sell but when that day happens be cool to come here knowing NW people will see it.

Hi, I'm in University Place, Wa. I have no discus for sale at the moment. I just got rid of 16 adult discus not long ago. Currently, I only have 3 pairs, 16 juvies, and about 50-60 6week old fry.
