Otherwise, as hard as it is, leave them in the store. Maybe after they go through a couple tanks of dead discus, they'll just decide to quit stocking them. No discus is better than sickly, dying discus.

This is a blue diamond they wanted 60 for. It's in a approx 90g with no other fish. Eeek. This is the no good LFS by me. Poor fish. I tried to get a better pic but as soon as I went up to the tank he went behind the bubbler.

What do you mean by back fins? I have a fish that the rear portion of the top and bottom fins are clear, but the tail is black (as are the pectoral fins).

I said correct me if I'm wrong. I had heard that you could tell the same way as you can color enhancing pellets on some strains. I could be wrong. I was kinda hoping someone else would've chummed in

I thought it was. The issue is how to tell if it's raised on hormones, and so avoid buying it.
