    Exclamation Signatures in your posts

We have limited the signature capabilities. No HTML or limited board code will be allowed (meaning no different sizes of fonts, no links, no bold, italic, or underline). Also, the size limit is 200 characters, with no more than 4 lines.

Some signatures may appear distorted. If you previously had formatting in your signature such as links or large text, you'll have to edit the signatures to remove the formatting code and fix the look of the signature.

This can be done by clicking on USER CP, then EDIT SIGNATURE.

    Update

All signatures have been cleared. If you previously had a signature in your posts, you'll have to go back to USER CP and re-add it.

The limits for signatures are as follows:

    - 200 characters max.
    - 4 lines max.
    - No clickable links to websites
    - No large size text
    - No formatting (bold, italic, or underline)

Site sponsors may post links in their signatures, by the way. You can have them for your Sponsor section here on the forum, or for your actual commercial website. The link option was only disabled for standard members.

What a nuisance. You are so heavy handed sometimes. I didn't have a link in my signature, but why do you care whether we do or not!?

Because excessively long signatures make loading times of pages slower and threads longer. This takes up more room in the database, considering we also allow custom avatars, 85KB attachments, and a large amount of PM storage space. This is all contained within the database and it's ridiculously large. So we have to find ways to keep things in check.

You say we're heavy handed and that is your opinion, but I think that's not the case. We provide a paid software on a dedicated server that I continually make updates and improvements to, and yet this service is still free for our registered members. To me that sounds pretty generous.

Its not about a few smiles here and there...Its just something Ryan and I felt we needed to do... Its not a real big deal... This is a discus forum...The signatures were something we could give the members and we did. now we changed that because we decided we needed to,...if the signatures defined what made this site a good discus forum from a bad..then I missed my goals here.

If anyone wants to gripe about it with me, Pms are fine.

    thanks,
    al
