Hi, Marie, so sorry about tank problem. Do you have any of those silicone sticks that you can buy that will seal a leak even while there is water in the tank? Not a bad thing to have on hand.

I bought a 30 gallon tank last summer and less than a week after it was filled, water started dripping from it...during a party, no less! I was showing some friends my fish and one asked if it was supposed to be dripping like that. O M G!!!!! I looked at the tank and saw a LARGE crack on the bottom as the water started coming out faster. Luckily I was able to put the fish into another tank and empty the leaking tank before all the water was on the floor.

I was very thankful someone had pointed it out; I can't imagine when I would have noticed it, since the party went well into the night. The next day I took the tank and my receipt to the store and got a replacement with no questions asked.

But that is my story, and water was leaking from the tank, not like yours.

I hope yours is only a scratch, but I'd get some of that sealant just in case.

    Cute Name, Kathi!!

I love it! Okay....so letz recap shall we? lol! Silicone Sticks? Where would I find them? Have you ever used them? That was quite a story you told, woman! Wow...How long did you have the tank? could you imagine if it wasn't noticed in time...omg is right~

Do you think I should use the sticks just incase?

    Thanks for sharing, Kathi!

Thanks, Marie. I checked on the name so I didn't give you misinformation. The one I've seen is "Mr. Sticky's Underwater Glue." You can get it through Drs. Foster & Smith. I'm sure there are other distributors that carry it or a version of it.

I've never used them, but every time I run across them in a catalog, I wonder if I should buy one just in case. . . .

I had the tank less than a week before the big CRACK.

Oh, yes, I've thought about what could have happened had it not been brought to my attention. I had my two favorite superveil angelfish in it. Wouldn't have been a pretty scene!

I'm by no means an expert when it comes to fish tanks, but I guess since this stuff is safe for fish and says it works under water, I guess it couldn't hurt. If it were me, I'd do it just as "insurance."

    Hope this helps!

Marie, Is that the new tank you just got from Petsmart? It has been less than 90 days right? Get a 5 gallon bucket take out the fish and empty the tank, then march that thing back to petsmart with the receipt and get a replacement! Set it back up with the new tank, no more worries (I can just see you getting up in the middle of the night several times a night to check on it!).

I certainly did name her. She is Josephine. Her mate was Napoleon, but they have split up and she is now living with Louie while Napoleon's new girl is Jackie O!

Thanks, Marie. Oh, I've got lots of names of former fish: Wanda (as in "A Fish Named.."), Chloe, Brad & Angelina (even before they went public) and others.

But forget about me. How about you? Is your tank still cracking? What's going on?
