But Mat all of the fish that I bought always seem to be carrying fry. They might be to busy to take to the show......LOL.

Yes, John, and since you got the big winner last year, I can't wait to see what you bring to Chicago.

Matt, I keep very few of the fish I import, Maybe 2-3 a year out of 1000's. I'd rather sell them to you. It takes 1-2 years to get a wild caught fish in shape to show it. Ken
John,
Simply separate that big male SS for awhile.
Ken, what are some of the methods you use to condition your wild fish?Originally Posted by fishfarm

I treat all my discus the same (domestic or wilds), lots of good food and frequent water changes. I keep them in my tap water, which luckly is soft and acidic. Food consisit of beefheart/seafood mix with lots of veggies and nutrarose added, frozen bloodworms, various flakes and pellets, but I really like the NLS pellets, they are one of my main feeds. I keep all my fish in goup of like colors/kinds for pairing (i.e. all heckels in one tank, blues, ect) About a month before the show I select the fish I plan to show and put them in a bare bottom tank with just a sponge filter to get them used to being by them selves and to mend any fin damage they may have and to fatten them up as much as possible.
I treat all my fish every 6 months with metro and prazi to keep the buggies down. That's about it.
Thanks Ken
