Here is another picture of my heckels
I purchased some heckels from my LFS about a month ago. I usually do not buy discus from the LFS, however I could not resist. Everyone told me that they were difficult to care for however, (touch wood) I have not had any problems.

I like 'em!
How big are they? and how much did you pay for them?
The body size is 4". I paid $59 Canadian for them.Originally Posted by goheel

Nice!

I think you've probably got yourself a very good deal. They look good. Some tlc, good food and water and they should do really well. My (limited) experience is that Heckels are a bit more sensitive to water quality than most.
Take care and good luck,

Comfortably numb.
I've had Heckels for about a year now and they're the hardiest fish that I own. They will eat anything I put in the tank and are really outgoing.
I do soften their water a litte bit (TDS around 110) and I keep their tank immaculate. They've rewarded me with their health and vigor. No pairs yet though. I may play around with their water someday and try to get them to breed.
Honestly, they've been a real joy to have in my fishroom.
Seek ye the truth and the truth will set you free.
Your heckel looks a little thin to me, other than that, it looks pretty nice. very deep heckel color.
Your snowball looks very attractive in the second picture, very distinctive black and white, so cute.

Thank you for the kind words. I love wilds, I find them to be tougher than the domestics. They are also greedy little buggers. The only drawback is that good specimens are hard to find here in Canada.
I like the $200 Pleco Black/White spots
Where did you get your Heckels from? The price is good. I am looking for some.

Thanks. I know Frank. I'll give him a call.
