Tina,
I'm still a little confused. Do you mean a peninsula then? If that's the case, Paul's idea would certainly work. Oh and it would probably weigh closer to 1500 pounds total.
LOL, the tank I pictured only has the one short side against the wall, (and then that wall is part of a stone fireplace wall so it can't go flush against it anyway). I'm still debating and asking lots of questions . My current tanks are all against the walls now, but I don't have an unabstructed wall big enough now to put a bigger tank so I went the room divider route where this tank will divide the dining room from the living room . Luckily, I have a concrete slab because I calculate this tank will weigh over 1000 pounds full?

Larry,
Love the look of your tank! That's another one I was debating on with the mission style, but it only comes in glass (the other tank that I'm thinking of is glass too though, just ment to stick out of the room and viewed on 3 sides) .

Tina,
Then Paul's idea is a very good one IMO. The one thing I would caution about is that all the stands I have seen in LFS have no backs, and you have already commented about the cap (canopy)(although admitedly I didn't know what you meant at the time). Unfortunately that may mean custom built unless, of course, you, or your husband, are good with building cabinetry. I'm a little bit jealous because I've always thought that an island or peninsula aquarium would be VERY cool. You could make little plant and/or rock/driftwood islands that the fish could come into and go out of view. The possibilities are, as they say, endless. And thank you for the compliment on the tank, I really just wanted to show you how mine was setup to give you ideas.

Yes, the tank is a special built U shape with fully inclosed sides except for the one that goes against the wall, was looking at the typical Oak stands and canopies for the rectangle tanks and thinking of how it would be a pain to close the backs and what it would look like. I have a smaller bow front now that I love and this will be a really large exagerated bowfront .
Tina
OK, confirmed, I'm the owner of the glass tank in the picture. Cost me twice as much as a rectangle glass tank, but it will fit the space so nicely! Hopefully it will survive transit .
Tina
Way to go Tina!!! I cant wait to the project in pics! Please post ajournal of it!
congrats!

LOL, yes I won the auction! DH still doesn't know about it yet though. (didn't want it to get out and have someone outbid me! LOL!) It's a very specialized aquarium though, and I have a space that would fit it perfectly . I know it would probably be better drilled with a sump, but I get nervous with voiding the warantee and the thought of drilling an expensive tank, LOL!Originally Posted by Kindredspirit
If you need to you could always pop the replacements in the mail Marie .
Funny thing is DH got some furniture for the dining room and said this morning that maybe we could use the cherry cridenza for my 60 gallon tank. I told him then not to worry about my 60 gallon tank (without saying more...)

LOL, but I'm only doing what he wanted with the "don't mind the fish tanks, but why do you need so many, wouldn't mind just one..." This one will fit in too with the decor instead of sticking out of place like the others .
Also, I wouldn't mind just having to look after one big tank too. (breeder tanks excluded, LOL)
BTW, that one at Petsmart is still up for grabs for you Marie
Tina
Tina - yeah let's go all out with this tank this time LOL!!!!
More fish more fish WAY TO GO!!!!!!!

Hey Tina - now I am to be blamed for this tank...LMAO...you know what I think I should be hornored to be blamed! LOLOriginally Posted by tpl*co
No seriously hope you'll have all the fun getting this tank set up(a tip: only after DH falls asleep lol).
I've never had anything bigger than a 55 so I really like to see yours.
Have a nice day Tina.
Kenny
p.s. after you're done with this tank why don't you drop by Tina? You just might blame me 1 more time though...or your DH would!
It is an honor Kenny! I can't bear to part with your little fishes so I must upgrade to a better tank to show them off! .
Seriously, DH had me set up the 60 in a totally bad area that I have a hard time cleaning it. Hmmm, I have an extra 30 gallons in this tank to play with over my other 2 tanks, which fish do you have in mind? LOL.
