very nice
So David ~ this look is a deformity and not bred this way intentionally?
I shall have to look in Andrew's book ~
Marie ~
very nice
sorry.i prefer round.
Marie, It is a deformity, but instead of culling the bad fry, they are bred to make the deformities even worse.
I wouldn't call them discus anymore.
anyway, those things will never get into one of my tanks.

No, no, a thousand times no - not in mine either. They don't really look like Discus to me. Well sort of, but... no! To each his own, though.Originally Posted by Martin

If what you say Martin is true ~that is not okay IMO ~ are you sure? They breed fish that shld have been culled? How unethical is that? Why? Wait ~ money ~ power ~ why else do we do anything ....Well perhaps this poster does not know this ~ this cld be a good thing yes?
******** ~ I certainly hope you are wrong Martin ~ I some how do not think so tho ~ I want to know more ~

I lov em.. wonder how the breeder gets this spinal deformity to occur on these fish.. do they push inwards the head and tail end of discus together lightly when very young to get this shape??it sounds crazy but if thats not how its done id love to hear how breeders achieve this form..
Hector....your kidding....right??Originally Posted by DISCUS USA

(once again) i dont quite understand what you mean marie. they are born like that; do you mean that eggs/bulldogs shouldnt be allowed to breed?Originally Posted by Kindredspirit

Comfortably numb.
I agree 100% the "each to his own" philosophy. But I'm always surprised when people start taking this subject so seriously. Monstrous deformed culls that aren't even discus any more? Come on. By that line of thinking the only goldfish would be the boring kind we used to win at the fair and all dogs would look like german shepards. If you don't like them then no prob, but don't try and make them into something created by evil men with no morals. GEEEEEZZZZ, lol.
BTW, I like'em. But I'd feel the same even if I didn't.
