I tried my amazon plant background from 13 years ago, that looks nice. I also put white up behind the tank, which looked great with all my fish. So for right now, I have the planted ground up, but later on I plan on changing to white.

Thanks again, everybody, for the suggestions and pics.

Here are the same Reflections before Dave bought them from me in a blue tank. This background is close to the same blue as painter's tape but the lighting seems to lighten it up. The color was called "peek-a-boo blue".

I think Dave maybe using 50/50 or actnic bulbs which cast even a bluer shade.

Here's the same paint color but probably a different time of day so it looks more true to life.

Ignore the pleco that is stuck head first in the sponge filter.

Gorgeous fish in both tanks! I think Dan should use your photos

Anyway, I spray painted a tank with a light beige, which I thought would be really nice. ARRGHHH!! My bds are bleached out a lot.

I tried the sponge paint first, then paint with a lighter shade, and it's ok, but again, doesn't do a whole lot for my bds. I'm bummed. I've got a 55 that I want to paint for my discus, but I want to get it right. I painted a 45 with a light blue, but haven't filled it yet, so I can't be sure how it will look.

This is the sponge painted one with the light on.
Kathi, I like your blue painted 45 the best. Are those leaves painted on too? They look great! You're right, beige doesn't do anything for the BDs.

When I took my background off the tank, I could see my wall, which is a light mauve/rose shade. Surprisingly, the fish looked nice against that too. But against the white, they really popped, the blues, the oranges/reds, the cardinals all looked great, and the plants look really nice too.
