i was wondering about that also..no front board..i think it would keep it more square and level also.
looks like you'll have a great fishroom when your done.
Nice, but I'm concerned about the tanks only being supported on 3 sides. I'm assuming the breeders are 36"x18". 36" is kind of long to not be supported on the front.

I was wondering when someone would mention no brace under the front ...... lol.
I got that idea from .......... I believe it was lauris's fishroom thread. She even had a 100 or 200 gallon tank supported that way and i questioned it in her thread.
It definately gives more room for getting in there to clean and thought i would give it a go to see how it works out. If i dont feel safe with it ........ i can always add a brace later. My main concearn is these breeder tanks dont have a center brace and the front glass could bow out. And yes its 36 x 18 x 17.
From what lauris said ........... shes had a 200 gallon tank setup that way for 10 years with no problems.
Lookin good Cage! Man it's fun to set up a fishroom isn't it!
Just checked Lauris's thread again.
http://forum.simplydiscus.com//showthread.php?t=46629
She has many tanks setup and she only has them braced on the ends and the one i was talking about above was a 110 thats been up for 3 years .... not a 200 for 10 years.
Mine are braced on 3 sides and 70 gallons smaller.
Looks Good Cage!! You must be very excited!

Cage,

Marilyn
Its good to hear you are on your way, hope everything works out as you want it to. I bet that in no time your fishroom is going to look like Kenny's Magic garage!
When science and magic collide, the story begins.
Looking good Cage! Keep the pics coming. I love seeing fishroom constructions! :-)
In discus limbo atm! So much to do and so little time!
Thanx everyone for the encouragement ........... I need it!!
Figuring out how to run the PVC for the drains is getting me pretty aggravated to say the least.
I jst got finished returning a box of PVC connections and buying another ...... lol. Im now going from the 2 inch line coming into the room to a 1.5 line around the room and then 1 inch to the tanks.
Im really starting to think i would have been better off spending the money on a big pump to suck the water out of each tank!!
The PVC might be cheap but it adds up pretty quick when your putting together a jigsaw puzzle .... lol. Sure seems like i bought an awful lot of conectors just to plumb 1 rack ........ lol.
Time to start piecing it together ........ i'll try to post some pics later toinight.
By the way ........ I picked up some PVC flex pipe and read on a website that it can be cemented just like regular PVC. Has anyone done this?? The guy at lowes said he wouldnt advise it.
Really? Thats very interesting. Try it I guess. I would love to know if it indeed works. That would make things much easier.Originally Posted by CAGE-RATTLER
Im using vacuum siphon for draining my tanks (which empty into a sump btw). It works alright. Nothing super fast though. Takes approx 10mins to empty a 65G. Not sure if Id want to try to 'suck' the water out via pump unless you drain one at a time perhaps. Only reason is that the draining may be different on each tank when draining multiple tanks at once. Suppose you could fiddle with it to ensure its equal......perhaps.
Enjoy the building. I did! I wish I could rebuild my fishroom or build another one. lol

Right now trying to make sure i can disconnect them to pull the tanks out if needed.
Heres a couple links for the flex PVC
This one says you can use regular primer and cement

This one says you need a special cement and DONT use primer ..... lol.

Hey Cage, this looks like fun! Looks like you are doing a nice job here too! Wish I could help more twithg the materials, but in the UK we call it one thing and you guys just wanna call it something else
Either way you are ahead of me, I meant to start mine 3 months ago, but hey...
Keep it up., I'm enjoying this thread.

Comfortably numb.
There is a fitting called unions that you can easily disconnect the pipes. I dont have a pic but I'll take one tonight. You can buy them at home depot. Basicly you glue together two lengths of pipe like a normal fitting however the fittings has 2 parts that unscrew. Life savers imo!Originally Posted by CAGE-RATTLER
