they wouldn't bother your discus..
find out their heat tolerances and QT.
I just pick up a deep red Crown tail male Betta fish and I was told that I can put them with other fish such as cardnals, Angel fish and a few others, do you think I can put it with my discus. I was told they where not aggressive unless it was to another male Betta. What do you think?

I had one in with mine and it look really nice but they do not take the high temps to well
I forgot about it and turned my temp up one time and found him dead at the bottom

The betta will be fine with the discus.
I put my betta growouts in the discus tanks and they usually do much better than and are more vibrant than the bettas that are in a betta-only growout tank.
But take note that with the higher temps and abundance of food, they will grow much faster and larger, but tend not to live as long as adults.
Also.. only 1 male per tank.

As long as you dont have a strong current, bettas should be perfectly happy. Do not keep a betta with even the slightest of currents... they HATE that... trust me.
Betta's go well with discus, but make sure you qt them properly. Betta's sometimes carry some nasty diseases you don't want in your tank.
I keep female bettas with everything I love them. Males can only be kept 1 per tank and they don't tolerate current as well as females do, so I tend to avoid them.
