What is the reason for placing a piece of glass on top of the bread in the white worm culture?
What is the reason for placing a piece of glass on top of the bread in the white worm culture?
lora...the glass is actually to retain moisture in the culture. Without it, the surface and food supply dry out pretty quickly and the worms don't like that...

Paul,
What gets expensive? Once you've bought the culture and medium, isn't that about it expense wise? Don't tell me I have to buy dirt filters, conditioners and a cable heating unit???
Kacey
Kaceyo...I think he meant that its expensive buying feeder quantities....Whiteworms are definately cheap to keep...
Joe
.......
Joe,
You can try a beefheart culture but you will end up with worms in the long run LOL! It would be cheaper to start a worm culture from the start
Hi Everyone,
Just a pic of my whiteworm culture. Kept in Top soil dampened fed on brown bread soaked in water and squeezed out, no cover galss.
Mark
Wow! Thats a pretty productive cuture you have...
Joe

Oh Mark.....Mark...

Thanks Joe,
Forgot to put my thinking cap on I guess.

Mark,
Do you keep that culture in the house? It definitly looks like you've got mass quantities in that thing.
Kacey
Don't forget to bring in the pest strips, when leaving the whiteworms in
the house. Use bread and water instead of milk less smelly. Adjust your
AC to kick on over 65 degrees. Just a few helpful indoor hinds.
Cliff
Well Mark,
You are gonna have to tell us exactly how you set that fish food factory up! LOL.
I just started my grindal worm factory up and it is no where near that compacity
Now how do you keep it from drying out? I put "press'nseal" on my culture cause I am afraid it will dry out. Is this a good idea or should I remove it. I do have teeny tiny holes in the press'n seal
Cliff, will the pest strip contaminate the worms? I would be afraid to feed them to my fish knowing there was a pest strip in the container
