    Default maxspect r420r razor 160w 10000k or 8000k & background

Hi I'm new to the site
And these days I'm building a 300g discus tank and have 2 Q
1- Which is better for a discus tank the maxspect 10000k or 8000k the tank is not gonna be planted
    http://maxspect.com/index.php?option...d=20&Itemid=21
2- I'm looking for a background suitable for a discus tank but not to limit me in the future if I'm going to change for frontosa blue zaire , I've looked into some background back to nature and rock aquatics or should I go with a black background and some decoration ?
Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum

    Welcome to SD.

you'll get different answers 'cause there is no right or wrong on lighting. It depends on your expectation and type of discus strain. Personal, i like 8000K just because its whitter than 10000K. Regard to your 2nd Q, i don't think Black background will be good 'cause Pigeon Blood discus strain will show lot of peppers in Black background. again, it depends on your taste and discus. I like clear background better, 'cause you can change it anytime you want too

    Hope it helps,

    Tony

    Welcome!!

As Tony mention above, you'll get different opinions..... I use color max fluorescent bulbs in smaller tanks and for bigger tanks I mix color max with regular 6500k tubes.
