A couple of days ago my internet explorer started taking a couple of minutes to load new windows, I run cable so it kinda defeits the purpose paying for speed Scaned the computer with norton and nothing came up so I let it be
Well today out of the blue, norton started displaying dozens if not hundreds of smalll windows saying something about my e-mail could not be sent and some and scanning e-mails, some weird address save money on meds, become a great lover etc. As if some one was trying to send e-mails using my account, By the ton. It stopped for a while after disconnecting the cable, but it did it on two other separate ocassions The program also stop two intrusions and said something abount a bloodhound and a Trojan.Dropper
I've done scans using the program and the software available from norton, even an attempt to remove the problem, but now all scans say everything is good yet it does the same thing again and I never did remove anything so.... The problem seems to get worse when accesing the Norton site

Have you updated your norton lately? Spybot is for spyware and I don't think spyware tries to send emails like spam??
Need your taxes done? Ask me I am a Licensed CPA!!!
Most basic taxes done for $100-$125 including efile!!
General Accounting and Book Keeping services available too!

Often, I run Live update at least every other day although sometimes I miss it. I haven't opened any e-mails in like a month either and I hardly receive any since i almost never give my address.
The funny thing is that the antivirus seemed to be working as it appeard to be trying to block all the e-mails is just was to many in a very short time very very fast. Imagine a small window showing the progress of scanning an e-mail multypied by 20 and then another window for each saying it could not be delivered to the addres. On top of that it still takes me 2-3 to load a new window, for example when I click a pic to see it larger here in the forum. I'm really tired and deppresed about it

Ed, TrendMicro used to offer a free house call scan . You might want to try that and see what it finds .
roberto.
sorry misread your message, thought you said your browser gets re-directed. I still think you might need to down load something to scan your computer.
Check Norton's site and see if you can update your protection. Since you mentioned trojan, did your computer give you any pop up message indicating you were infected with a trojan virus? If so, you should write down the exact text of the message and search on the net or on Norton's site. If any matches show up, they'll tell you how to resolve issue.

Ed,
Have you tried the scans norton offers on their site...I'd use those...It sounds like the Norton antivirus you have installed may be corrupt.
Do you have a firewall installed?

The norton scans say everything is perfef, thats what has me confused. The program displayed a pop up window saying it had block a trojan, but before it could not handle something about "bloodhound.Sonar.1". I even performed the removal proceedure for Trojan.Dropper from the Norton site but it happen again.
I run the norton firewall, is this enough?
There hasn't been other incidents since last night but it still takes me 3 minutes to load up a window, not happy when paying $50 a month for cable

Ed,
Have you tried to optimize your hard drive with the windows tools?
How about clearing your browsers cach and temp files?
Does your normal computer functions work okay? is it just web functions thats delayed.?
What Browser do you use? if IE...try using firefox... try updating what ever browser you have... you may have corrupted files there...maybe a clean reinstall is worth a try.
Lastly check with your cable provider...be sure that this speed issue is not a coincidence to the trojan.

Here are removal instructions for Trojan.Dropper from the Symantec website:

The best free spyware/adware programs I've found are:
Ad-aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and the Trend Micro online scan, which is available here:

I followed the link and for some reason I can't run the scan. After accepting the license agreement the Scan page never starts. Its a bummer since the symptoms described on the site seem to be exactly what I'm going through!
- Slow PC performance when opening programs or saving files
- Unwanted pop-up windows
- Browser homepage hijacked
- Repeated change in your browser's home page
- Random error messages
- New and unexpected toolbars in your browser

Hi Ed,
I found this, which lists several different spyware/trojans/viruses:
http://my.opera.com/remove-spy/blog/...ml/tag/spyware
If you click on the specific name, it gives instructions for manual removal.
I also found this link, which lists a few different free online scans (Trend Micro happens to be one of them).
http://www.precisesecurity.com/antiv...nline-scan.htm
I'm not sure why Trend Micro isn't working for you. You might try one of the other free online scans listed in the above link, to see if they will work.
