Default Frozen Blood Worm : Flat or Cube package ?

Any one using flat package of FBW ?

I only need to feed small amount of FBW every night and that's why I like the cube package. Otherwise, I don't know how else to break up the frozen flat pack and still keep everything clean and not contaminate anything in my fridge.

I know the flat pack is much cheaper ... Any idea ?

I have been using flat package for about a year now and I find it very easy to use. break all of the flat pack bloodworms into small little pieces and put them into a bottle with a lid or zip lock bag. It should not contaminate your fridge.

I let mine sit out just enough to be able to break in small portions
then put back in freezer. When I feed I leave them out on pringle lids until thawed a little and feed. Haven't had any problems doing this. Also do the same for my beefheart. Ken

Use a strong tool to cut if off, like the tool you use to cut wire.

I keep one just for that. No need to use your hand for it.

I brake it off frozen and thaw it in a small glass. My room has a hotel type frig so contamination is defined by me!(none) Don T.

I take the flat out of the freezer, I bash it with the side of a light hammer, I take the broken chunks [still frozen] and throw them into the tanks while the rest of the flat goes back into the freezer; the discus chase the FBW around. By the time they eat them they are thawing nicely. Never had a problem and I can feed and run. I've been doing it this way for at least 5 years.

The few times I have done that for my non-discus tanks, I forgot all about it! ugh!

But for the discus tank ~ toss it in frozen ~ no problem

You don't use the whole thing for one feeding? If you have to break of pieces than you don't have enough Discus.

Same here. I dont bother prepping it, just toss it in (a chunk or cubes) and let em have at it!

If I had enough discus to feed a whole flat pack at one time, I would be in heaven! Have only 11 adults at this time. My 85g has been empty for months. Just waiting till I see exactly what I want and then fill it up!

Kenny?? You listening? My tank has been empty long enough. Whats going on in the Magic Garage??

1lb flat packs of hikari frzn blood worms are an economical and nutritious food... I just smack the pack on anything solid and throw the chunks in...

caution... about 30% of the people out there are allergic and in the non -allergic group...allergies can develop quickly... I can't touch the stuff without gloves or I'll get hives and welts...and god help me if I touch my eyes..

I knew it was fbw ~ I was just thinking of this, Al, a few days ago as my hand was really itching afer I fed them!

If you are not allergic now ~ can it just hit you all of a sudden?

Have you ever touched your eyes? Guess so ~ what happened?
