Visiting grandma and grandpa. Backyard fishing 4262017192554.jpg426201719252.jpg

Grandpa just stocked the pond with about 75 trout in the 2lb range just for grandson. That was about 5 fish caught in less than 10 mins

Thanks for sharing these pictures Ryan. At that rate you'll be emptying the pond in no time....someone seems very pleased with the catch. Those rainbow trout sure look like they are in pristine condition.

Oh yeah Joe he had a blast. These fish really are beautiful. This is the first time my dad had viewed the fish since dumping them down the chute since bringing them home from the hatchery. He was pretty impressed with the size and quality.

Oh and they tasted delicious too lol

As you remember those great times fishing with your dad, so will he. All I suggest is that you give him plenty to remember, and enjoy it together

It makes it much easier to take a 5 year old fishing when there is no waiting and patience involved lol. Cast, lure hits the water and fish on! Great introduction to fishing

    What have l done?!!

I recently introduced my wife Rita to marlin fishing while holidaying in Kona Hawaii.

Rita caught and released her very first marlin, an estimated 150lb Pacific Blue Marlin, and did a great job staying calm and keeping the line tight, while the deckie, skipper, and myself were barking instructions at her.

She really enjoyed the experience, especially while the marlin was jumping at the back of the boat, and also at the time of release to see it swim off in good condition.

She's now asking me if she can join me on my next marlin fishing trip

    Now that's different.
I once saw a clip where they did something like that in Japan i think.....the only thing l didn't like is that they hooked up the marlin with a very large floating barrel attached to the hand line which restricted the marlin from diving deep, and they chased it around with the boat. Not very sporting in my opinion, but each to their own.

This one was a Japanese guy but just a straight hand line with giant lure. No barrel or buoy

That would be very challenging, and definitely a fair battle between man and fish.

Thats great Al. Would be awesome if you had pictures to share. I'm guessing that it may have been a blue marlin, or even a striped marlin that are commonly caught in that area.

Thanks Sayid. She now understands why i love this sport so much....Now i just need to get her hooked on Discus keeping, and help with the maintenance

We have been back in Melbourne for awhile now, and like you enjoying the 1 degree mornings, but i'm already looking at my next marlin trip up in North Queensland to fish the Black Marlin Classic from Lizard Island.
