We don't have quite as many opportunities for big fish here on the Hudson but we do get a nice striped bass run each spring. This is the last decent fish I caught before my health failed me. Now I'm half blind and everything hurts all the time.I'm just starting to take my boat out again and hoping I can get back to fishing.

Wow Beth! That striped bass is huge! What other species would you normally target on the Hudson? I bet you've got a nice collection of picture, which I'd love you to share on here.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are not well, but glad that you can still enjoy time out on the water in your boat. Boats sure do add another dimension to our lives, and I get lots of enjoyment out of mine, even when not fishing. Care to share a photo of your boat? Would love to see what gets you out on the water.

Thanks for your post, and wishing that you get well

Now that's different. My wife hooked up a small crocodile simular size while casting lures at Baramundi on a trip up north.....only got it to the boat though, and released it....wasn't game to handle it. Nice job

We get some pretty big blue fish coming up in August usually. Average about 10-15lbs. Otherwise it's all catfish, eels, and white perch. Some folks will fish for carp but they don't hit a steady bait so its a guessing game.
Another pic of Vicki and I with fish plus some not very good ones of our boats. we have his and hers. My husband has the bigger one and mine is the little one at the end of the row of boats on one of our raft ups. 28 foot Albermarle for him and a 19 foot Key West for me

I still own my first boat. Its been just over 20 years since l bought her, a 16 foot cuddy cabin. About 5 years ago l put a new mercury outboard on her, as i killed the old one from overload and many hours of trolling for marlin. Apart from that l haven't spent much on her, until now.

First sign of old age...... Put new comfortable seats in her to save my back, and had all the cracks and chips repaired on the fiber glass. She's looking like new again all nice and shinny

I have had lots of good times with her, and she'll be sticking around for awhile longer.

l'm having lazy Saturday afternoon here and i was looking through some of my old fishing posts to pass some time. I had heard about the changes to Photobucket and not happy to have lost images in this thread. I'm going to revisit some of my old post on here and re post some of my favorite pictures from time to time.

This was from my Panama trip to Tropic Star Lodge.....

......I've just returned from my trip to Tropic Star Lodge in Panama, and all l can say is that it was amazing. Apparently the fishing was not that hot, but l didn't notice that. Apart from the fishing the service provided by the lodge was fantastic, and started from the minute we stepped of the plane in Panama City. We were placed in a lounge, and drank beer while our bags were collected, and they also helped us clear customs

l was invited by my friend Bill DePriest the editor of South Coast Sportsfishing magazine, to join him and his dad , also named Bill.

I purchased a new camera for this trip with a 42X zoom, and had plenty of things to photograph along the way. As a matter if interest its a Nikon Coolpix P150, and it really served its purpose on this trip, and many more to come.

I'll get right into some of the hundreds of photos l took, with some descriptions along the way.

I have just recently returned back from my annual trip to North Queensland to spend more time on the Great Barrier Reef, and to fish the Lizard Island Black Marlin Classic.
This year i opted to fly onto the island rather than to catch the boat from Cairns. The view of the reef from the air is truly spectacular and i would like to share some picture from the trip.

On the second day of the tournament we managed to satellite tag two black marlin. One was estimated at around 400lb followed by a monster which was estimated at 1200lb ++

We enjoy catching many other reef fish which we only keep enough for a feed...nothing beats freshly caught fish for lunch or dinner.

Its always lots of fun living on the boat and having easy access to the reef.

After the tournament my good friend Ichiro from Japan who was our angler for the tournament caught an Australian Record for Male 130lb class line Blue Marlin.
I need to point out at this point that we do not like killing these beautiful creatures and that more than 99% of the marlin caught on the Reef are released.

So after being home for a little while and snapper season in full swing i went out to try and catch a good one for a feed. I've tried a few times recently but not able to catch what i was looking for until now.

This is an above average fish weighing in at 8kg.

With the beautiful summer weather we are getting i'm continuing to enjoy lots of fishing, not to mention the occasional feed of fresh fish to serve up to my family.

On a recent fishing trip along the N.S.W Sapphire coast, l caught this largish Bull Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi/Dorado). The fish was bled and filleted to present to the table and shared among friends. Its not what we were targeting but a good bye catch just the same. We were looking at catching and releasing striped marlin. We got our fair share of bites and a few hook ups but none were on long enough to bring in reach of the awaiting tag pole.

Over the Christmas holidays i enjoyed taking my grand daughters out in my boat. Izzy is 10 years old now and has been out many times, but this time round i introduced her to catching flathead on soft plastics. She did really well and caught a couple of nice ones which we enjoyed that afternoon...nothing beats fresh caught fish.

Little Sophie is only two, and enjoyed her first time fishing catching squid...but someone forgot to tell her about bringing bananas on the boat.....

She can already drive the boat, and it looks like she'll want to come out again

Thanks Kirby. Its my duty to introduce my kids and grand kids to life's simple pleasures. Where they take them from there is up to them, but at least we are creating some wonderful memories. In saying that i do hope they follow in my footsteps so that they can take me fishing in my old age.

    Thanks for your interest
