    Thank you

Has anybody been out for a fish lately? Or would like to share some pics from the past?

The fishing club that i'm a member of has been getting us involved with fresh water fishing a little more, and i must say that i've been enjoying catching the odd trout. Mainly rainbows but there have been a few little browns among the mix.

I put this little clip together of a recent comp' held by the club, and the best part of it is seeing the kids enjoying themselves in the outdoors instead of being in cyber space.

What im really looking forward to is fishing offshore again. Thats what i really love. The club is organizing a tuna comp' out from Portland which is a four hour drive, and a fair few of us are going up for the Queens Birthday long weekend. Hope we get onto a few, and I'll be sure to post some pics of the trip

That looks alot like our European Carp...Interesting way of catching fish....suppose they don't release well Its illegal to put carp back into our river systems and suspect its the same over there.

yep, its a carp, no catch and release! By law you can't return them to the water, dump them on shore etc. That's what the garbage can is for!
We take them to the back 40 and dump them for the critters to gnaw on!
Any "rough fish" is fair game for bow fishing around here. It's a BLAST!

The real fun is at night with lights!

    G'day Joe,
I have been fishing for 40 years, LOVE it. I grew up in Brisbane and fished Moreton Bay ad the inshore reefs off Nth Stradbroke Island where my family had a holiday house. I have fished the lakes & rivers of Canada (my brothers live there) and Ohio, USA, where I now live. From a recreational perspective, fishing & fish keeping, have been my passion for as long as I can remember.
    Here's a few pics.

    Nice haul of Walleye Dan.
I bet you're missing that. Do you get up to any fishing where you are now?

I enjoyed a long weekend away with our fishing club, who held their Southern Tuna Competition in Portland Victoria. It was over 4 hrs drive to get there, but we managed 6 boats in attendance to make it a nice little comp,.
There were plenty of these 'Jelly Bean' Bluefin Tuna about and it was great seeing the juniors getting into them.

Here is a short video clip from the trip if you are interested in seeing more.

Have you been out fishing lately? Would love to see different species and techniques coming in from different parts of the world

That looks like a cracker time on the water mate...tuna are so much fun to catch when you match the gear to the size you're chasin...howling runs, then the deep sounding...awesome!
We used to chase longtails and mack tuna in Moreton bay and caught the odd baby yellowfin offshore.
I went for 1 exploratory days fishing in the rivers down here the week after we moved but the water was crazy high and dirty so i got skunked. Sgould be some good bass fishing, and also sauger, which are a close relayive of the walleye. Needs to get alongside a few locals in the know. Can't beat local knowledge!
    Have a good one Joe!

Hey Joe! Atlantic Spadefish. Their favorite food is jellyfish. But if there aren't any jellyfish around then we use shrimp after taking the shell off. Small J Shank thin hook (1/0 mosquito hook) on heavy leader. They will come right up to the boat and hit your bait yet they will take straight down to the wrecks and try to bust you off. It is just yet another type of fight that test your equipment versus drag! They do not taste fishy at all. Very White meet. Usually two big fillets off of each side. This time of year they come close to shore. We caught them only seven miles off the shore. In the late morning they will come up and the top water column and pass your boat in the numbers of a hundred to a thousand fish while circling between your boat and feather boats constantly. Very awesome fish! Also we usually have a pole rigged up for Cobia since we frequently see them at the same wrecks this time of year.
