Default Tank Background - What do you use?

    Hi All,

Been thinking of getting a fake rock background for my tank, however I was told that too dark a backdrop will cause Discus to lose a little vibrancy?

Would I be better off with a normal stick on brown or green background instead?

    Any advice would be great!

    Thanks alot.

I've been using styrofoam insulation sheets, light blue on the backs of tanks, mostly due to expediency, just an easy out....would much rather use a fake rock background with some driftwoods for a more natural look, but I'm just too chicken to try to build one of those....there are sev'l interesting threads with complete instructions on how-to do this, just too complicated for me right now....why not give it a try? It really doesn't seem too difficult for someone with ambition, lol.....I think it'd be a great tank background for discus....

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Actually you can buy fake rock sheets here. I was told they go for about 5USD per foot.

What I did though was buy some of that anti slip rubber material, dark brown in color and just used adhesive to attach it to the back of the tank....it is a little porous, so any moisture that get in between can evaporate. I've yet to conclude if this is the best, but Ill keep updating!

I mask he back of new tanks, with painters tape.
    Then, spray paint them blue.
There are lots of differing blue color spray paints.

Med/Lt Blue paint (back and sides) sand pebble texture paint (bottom) and then wrapped with reflectix.
