It's a pleco, but don't know what kind. I'd say you'd be safe at 75* till you find out what it is.
Hey Guys ~ I just got these from work ~ they were in rotten water conditions, gravel....that expelled all kinds of crap, when we were catching them...
I think the clean water and heat, with air, may just kill them! I am not even sure what the heat should be? I have it almost to 75 at the moment. They were in FREEZING water!
Anyway ~
What are they? Plecos of some sort? Are they good for cleaning? They are in QT, in a 3 gal....they are going in with my Frontosas....that's the initial plan....
How long would you QT them? They were the only fish in the tank....plus a hella lot of crap! They are pretty big ~
Thanks!

looks like a sailfin pleco. as with any large plecos they get big and their poop gets bigger.
--Reid
You have no idea, Reid! These puppies have been in the 3 gal since last Saturday night. I have not fed them once....and there is a whole bunch of sh!t in there!!
I don't know if I am going to keep them or not....
They look like Liposarcus sp., prob the common although they look like they might be sailfins. They are good cleaners up to around 8" or more then they turn more to the meatier side of a diet. They grow really big 18" is not out of the question and poop like crazy, more than they clean up. If they were in such bad conditions I would not put them in with any other special fish.
When did this happen? Fronts?!!!they are going in with my Frontosas....that's the initial plan....
When science and magic collide, the story begins.
My SIL has a couple of plecos that look like that (sold to her as commons) in her 75 gal with an oscar. She says they crap more than the ocsar. She is really tired of cleaning up after them and is ready to dismantle the tank.....
Maybe they would be a good pond fish? Though I am sure they could hold their own with your fronts (very cool looking fish btw!)
As bright as the sun and twice as proud...I refuse to hang out under a cloud!
oh I seen those guys in a Godzilla movie LMAO! and they lost LOL!
gotta love my Godzilla movies LOL
Godzilla vs Plecosaurus
The plot:
Can Godzilla save Tokyo against the man eating Plecosaurus.
Where do plecosauruses come from you ask? Well from the Sacromento California area of course. See you catch them and if they are not bushynose plecos you just flush them down your toilet and from there they go to the sea (ocean if you live in California) but what you don't know is that there is a warning sticker on the side of the toilet that says the water in this toilet may cause cancer in the state of Cailfornia (but no one really pays attention to that warning cause it is posted on everything you buy in the USA wonder why only in that one state and no where else oh that is another movie hahahaha) and that has a bad effect on the pleco and they mutate into large man eating Plecosauruses seeking revenge on all man kind for flushing them before their time. Why they chose Tokyo to eat your thinking? Cause if you remembered the US version of Godzilla - HE DIED! We killed them all at the end of our movie but for some reason the people of Japan cannot kill their Godzilla. As a matter of fact that island seems to draw all the giant critters to it. Thank goodness I do not live there cause I could be pleco food tomorrow
Ok if you want to know more on this movie just send me $10.95US and I will be happy to finish it for you
