    Default Filter questions

I've got a marineland emperor 400 on my 55 gallon tank. I was looking at canister tanks, and I'm thinking of adding one to my tank. Do you think if i used the emperor 400 and an eheim 2217 together would it be too much? Is there such a thing as filtering too much? I know discus like very clean water so I was just curious if this would be a good idea.

When it comes to Discus water quality, the more filtering, the better.
So long as you do not create to much current, in the return flow.
Which can be remedied by diffusing it, with a long outlet spray bar.
Across the back of your tank.

If you already have good water clarity.
I doubt you need more mechanical filtration.

But, it is near impossible to have to much biological filtration.
You might look into a wet/dry trickle filter.
They are the best bang for the biological filter buck.
They are also simple & inexpensive to DIY.
