Nope, but it seems like it would work OK. Is that what you use cliff?

    Kacey,
I have used Maroxy in the past and everything mention on this thread plus acriflavine. Which
product has the best results I really don't know as in one spawn the males can be very fertile
and the next few spawnings nothing so eggs just fungus up.

    Hey Pete,
You'll want to take the tank off of the central filter to hatch out and care for the eggs/wrigglers. For one, you'd have to use enough anti fungus med to treat the entire system and expose all the fish in it to meds they don't need. Second, the freeswimmers tend to get pulled into the overflow that feeds the central filter.
Thats why breeders who use centralized filtration keep a sponge filter in the breeder tanks (or the sump) and add valves to cut the breeder tanks off from the system when spawning takes place.

I have a batch of tangerines on the back 4 days now. At least 100 or so. The same pair with no meds I get around 40 or so on the back. I have tried both MB and maroxy and the MB seems to work better. The MB freaks the parents a little bit when you put it in buy they seem to get more comfortable later because it is darker in there. I leave the MB in till the eggs are wigglers then I slowly cycle new water in from the central system. Carbon on the outflow to take out any remaining MB so that it keeps from going into the whole system. Check your ph when adding new water in too. GLGD

I know this is an old thread but has anyone used this product with any success?

    Seachem Paraguard.

ParaGuard® is a unique dialdehyde based treatment with synergistic malachite green and fish protective polymers. It is the only liquid medication on the market to control parasitic, bacterial, fungal, and viral infections. It will not damage the biological filter and is exceptionally effective in dips.

Unlike highly toxic and difficult to use formalin based medications, ParaGuard® contains no formaldehyde or methanol and will not alter pH. ParaGuard® employs a proprietary, synergistic blend of aldehydes, malachite green, and fish protective polymers that effectively and efficiently eradicates many ectoparasites (e.g. ich, etc.) and external fungal/bacterial/viral lesions (e.g., fin rot).

    Thanks

    Rick..

    Cliff,

I have. I had a problem with fry attaching for some reason. Do or have you?

I use nothing with the same success as anything. If someone "must" use something, I would suggest methylene blue as it is very nontoxic to the fish.

I have never used anything but soft water and a low ph raising thousands of fry without any issue.

    hi,
does the formalin goes away spontaneously or it stays in the tank till u change water?
do u use it with the parents inside or artificially hatching method?
    thanks

    Hi Stan,
I'm not sure, but I do a 50% wc 24hrs after the eggs are laid. I continue the daily wc's even while fry are on parents back.

Methylene Blue for me is the best. Its cheap and not dangerous to fish. Be aware with formalin, promoves cancer.

    best regards

    hi,
    thanks.
does it mean that if we use formalin to treat some sickness, we need to add the formalin again after 24 hours since it is already not in the water?
    thnks for ur explanation.
