The fish looks to have 9 full bars + 2 half-top bars...

You have one that demonstrates that the typical pattern of nine bars does vary among wild fish.
thanks, just wondering if it matters as fish's quality?
I personally like both, 9 good stright bars or messy bars.

    Hello,

Finally got my Canuma Blues into my tank, they seem pretty happy and content which is good.

    Dan

That is a good looking group.
The contrast of the background really makes the colors pop.
What are the dimensions of the tank?

    Dan,
Your blues look great as does their new home. I would love to have enough room for a tank that big. Better yet rooms full of tanks that big!

I have seen many greens with "Y" type bars. I don't consider anything that falls within "normal" as being a defect on wild fish. If they are good enough for nature, then they are good enough for me. I think what matters most when it comes to wild discus is that we are happy with the fish we have for the price we were willing to pay.

I think it is different when it comes to domestic discus. There are standard expectations for each breed that we all look for.

    Hi, all of you,

tis is Heiko and I just wanted to underline what Larry said: the bars can be uneven or split, it is (quite) common in nature and also in breeding. Nothing unusual and does not take anything away from the fish - only from ones eyes... (but is there a perfect woman?).

I also wanted to congratulate Dan, for his aquarium and decoration. I am really very happy to see more and more environmental and biotope correct decorations around the world. It shows that my book and my authentic biotope decorations and my biotope lectures & seminars on 4 continents have been awarded, and that makes me happy the most.

I just did 9 more biotope aquariums in Nuernberg, Interzoo 2008, last week. http://www.aquapress-bleher.com/inde...1&Itemid=1have Have a look art the discus tank, 2. aquarium, with 50 adult discus
and how the swam. It was an eye-site and everone appreceited it. Soon there will be more details about it.

Best regards and keep up the good work,

    always

    Hi,

I think early next week there will be many close up photos and details of the entire Cuipeuá lake biotope, which I created, next to 8 others.

    All the best

Wonderful setups guys. Dan S very very good. Great fish and tank, the 3D backgrounds seem to really help the look of the tank, more natural looking and give no reflections.
Heiko your biotope aquaria are very impressive, I would love to see them in the flesh particularly the 50 discus!
