    There really isn't a "perfect" value for these but I can give you a good general range.

    TDS = 80-140
    PH = 6-7
    Temp = 84-86

    I shoot for around 50 tds. (I start changing water little at a time the day after they are laid) My PH stays stable at 7.6 and temp of around 82-85. HTH

    Can you not keep you discus eggs in pure RO until the hatch, this gives you a very low osmotic pressure, and a water that has a higher abilty to hold oxygen.

    I read a few people use pure RO to hatch, so surely there is no lower limit on the TDS or conductivity reading.

    I sometimes place a batch of eggs in 100 percent RO, and they do hatch out. Why, are you
    having hatching problems, might be the male, female or both.

    Hi cliff,

    I currenttly making an automated drip feed system.

    My HMA water has a TDS of 37, which is low my PH is around 7.3.

    I was going to make a mix of half RO and Half HMA which should give

    TDS 17.9 and a PH 6.9.

    I have lots of breeding pairs, all having a similar problem with the current water a very low hatch rate, but some do hatch.

    I currently have a pair that got a total hatch of 3 :-(.

    The eggs don't go white straight away it takes about a day before they start turning white.

    I have not changed my HMA filters for over 7 months, so i,m renewing them.

    I was just wondering with such a low TDS anyway whether it is just too low, hence the orginal question.

    cheers stephen.

    Hi Steve,
    I think you might take a few steps just to find out why the low hatch, if it is the water
    system or the fish. Try hatching the batches in straight RO the next few times, pull out
    the eggs and soak them in pure RO if there is no hatching its most likely the problem is
    the fish.

    Good Luck!

    Hi cliff,

    i tried this, put half ro and af the aquaruim water in a tub and the hatch rate went up TDS was 17.9. I tried to introduce the cone back with the parents, but they imediately eat them.

    I currently fill all my breeding tanks with pure RO fro a week or so see if i can get some spawns, see if this makes a diffrence.

    When i hatched in a bucket a had a air disc behind the cone pumping lots of air in, and used M.BLUE.

    cheers stephen.
