Default Pigeon bloods, are they harder to raise?

Hello all. Just had a successful batch of pigeon blood x galaxy turquoise pairing. Noticed because of the pigeons lighter color it's seems like the fry have a harder time attaching or finding the father. Are successful pairings harder with lighter colored discus?

Not necessarily but the fry are attracted to dark objects.

Pigeon bloods also can be challenging as they dont always make alot of slime initially.. that means theres less incentive for the fry to feed on them. This in turn becomes a problem as the fry feeding stimulates more slime production.

Thats not to say all pigeons are problematic...because they are not.. but they can be.

Good to know, a little off topic but what do you do for water changes with tiny fry? Accidentally sucked a couple up trying to clean the adults waste off the bottom using airline tubing and got a couple fry in the process. Fished them out of the pail using a spoon and thought there has to be a better way lol

Turkey baster is what I to move the fry when I need to. As for cleaning the tank.. usually the fry will go to the parents.. more times than not fry that are off on their and not around the parents have something wrong with them. Are your fry Actively feeding on the pair?

Yes they are eating off the parents pretty well, even the pigeon blood. Just seems like every now and then a few get adventurous and wander around a bit. They seem to be getting better at keeping them coraled now.

Awesome! Congrats! Sounds like you will be running out of tank space again.
