    Lightbulb wayyyyy too much pepper

i am looking for very heavily peppered discus. peppered forehead, snout, belly, and especially the body. if you have something that you need to cull just because of pepper, simply wayyyyy too much pepper....thats probably what i am looking for.

should not be something you luv.....cuz there is a chance that i will eventually have to cull a lot of them.

of course not.....based on the "midnight black" thread, there seems to be some interest in a black discus. i would like to try to create a "healthy" black discus. i think i finally understand people's comments about "the good of the hobby"....so i understand there will be a multitude of offspring that will need to be culled until i determine if this will work....over the next 10+ years.

hmm sounds like a plan... if it works in the next 10years I for one would be willing to buy it as long as it was healthy and doesn't cost awhole lot. lol

well..we will await the outcome. but the pepper basically are the bars..scattered . might be hard..as that would be like trying to spread the bars fatter to cover. i guess maybe if you keep breeding reds and blues togeather...or something..to make more and more and maybe some solid ones..maybe a ghost..as their white in the middle when a bit stressed goes greyish black solid. that would be my direction..but ..ill leave it all up to you. if anything sounds like a good project. ill still be here in 10 years im sure..ill be watching for results. at least the first generation will happen fast enough.

It's always fun and exciting to have a goal and a challenge to overcme. Nothing comes from complacency,a and i admore your courage and "thinking outside the box". Even if it didnt yield the results that you had hope, you may very stumble onto something else worthwhile. Heck, you could do a lot worst! Good luck (I dont have any heavily peppered discus...I have two very very veeerry lightly peppered pigeon from Al...and they are hardly culls). mike

I first consider this forum as a place to learn and have fun with others so when I say "nut", I mean you taste are totally difference from others. If you also use YOUR BRAIN, you won't write anything like this.

That idea could be pretty cool! The problem with pepper is that it comes and goes (all the pepper is not present all the time). 10 years from now you may come up with a black discus that is black when there is a black back ground, but may not stay that way when the back ground is lighter. That could be cool though. You might get the chameleon effect. That would definitely be cool!

Correct me if I am wrong. When Discus is sick/stress, they will turn black. For a Black Discuss, how can we tell if it is sick? might be a Black Discus will turn WHITE when it is sick/stress
