I was given a sample packet recently to try and my discus loved them. When i enquired about the price, i nearly had a heart attack
Has anyone tried this food out. Is it good. Is it worth the price. There is a sale going on at Dr Foster & Smith. Wondering should I get it or no ???

Hi,
My fish were on the Hikari Discus Stick type food.
Now they have introduced this Hikari Bio Gold, which seems to be very small in size and my discus cant even see them float past them.
MY DISCUS HATE THIS NEW FOOD. ITS REALLY BAD. NOT A GOOD INVESTMENT.
If you find the stick type food, i would recommend that.
Arpanlib
My discus are the same Arpanlib, they will eat it if they see it. It is very very small and sinks too fast, my big boys just stare at me like where has it all gone?
I thought my fish were the only ones with this problem. But i guess my fish have company.
The worst part is that my discus only eat this food and i have no more stocks of this.
I dont know what to do as they will not accept any other food.
Any suggestions would be good other than the Beef heart recepie or prepared foods etc.
Will they not accept foods like blood worms or brine shrimp? My discus love them. I have tried the hikari once so far, they spit it back out. But that doesn't mean I can't get them eating it. It probably tastes different that's all, so they won't like it at first. I think once fish get aquired to something most of them start to like it, or at least tolerate it.
I tried it tonight and they don't even see it.
Too small, sinks fast...
my discus don't seem to be interested. they love the cheapo colorplus flake tho.

My discus will eat it if I just use it as a extra treat - after their morning feeding I will put some in their tank before I go to work and they will snack on it during the day - it is always gone by evening but I do not think it works well as part of the main menu - as was mentioned it is small and sinks fast

I've had the same problems with my fish. Pellets just sink too fast to be noticed. Flakes seem to work best.
Does hikari give the actual size of the pellets? I like the NLS discus pellets. At 1mm they are not too small and they sink pretty fast. My fish usually let foodhit the ground at eat it then. I usually toss a good pinch in before work and let them feed on it during the day. I also use it at night.
