Best Flake for Yellow Discus
Hi,
I just purchased 6 Albino Millenium Gold discus from Kenny and he told me to avoid any foods that have shrimp in them as they will effect the yellow color of the discus. Unfortunately I just mixed up a batch of beef heart mix with flakes that contain shrimp meal as one of the ingredients, does any one know how much this will effect their color? The shrimp meal was the forth ingredient listed in the flake and I used at a ratio of 3 large handfuls of flake in 2lb of mix.
I am also going to use an auto feeder to feed while I am at work and would like to use flakes in it, but so far every flake I have looked at contains some kind of shrimp in it, even the BH and earthworm flakes that I looked at, does any one know a good flake to feed them that won't effect their color?
Thank You,
Russ

Re: Best Flake for Yellow Discus
Hi,
You can feed them with sera bits as basic stapple. It works on my Albino pearl diamond.
Then you can replace shrimps by whiting in your mix.
For deep yellow color at show add a pinch of dry marigolds.
Kind regards,
Steph

Hi,
Try sera bits, it works on my Albino pearl Diamond which are similar in type.
Never use flakes or they will turn to orange.
If you want to improve their yellow color add carophyl yellow in your mix.
Kind regards
