I always liked Cardinal Tetras, but I am realizing that although they do well in groups, they do not school like most small tetras. My Cardinals will spread apart in my tank, and not move around in a big group.
My current favorite is the rummynose tetra! Awesome fish. It schools beautifully. What do others think?

I love rummynoses! I have 27 in my 120 gallon and they school VERY well! It reminds me of something you would see in the ocean schooling by the thousands...

Congo tetras are great schooling fish, but you have to have at least 12 or more to have them school. Great looking fish, too.

Phantom Tetras, Red or Black, very dynamic. Bleeding Hearts, Emperors, Cardinals, Hatchets, Glass Cats, etc.
I heard about the Red Tetras . I would like to get a small school of those for my wife's tank . She loves the Cardinals but so do the Angel fish she keeps . They are there and then they are not . She has a nice small school of rummynoses but they do not have that much color to show well.
Roberto.
I have pristella tetras as well as rummynose tetras and both school very nice. They even school together...They are not in my Discus tank though. One day they will be.

Rummy nose are hands down my fav tetra! But, only if the school is large enough, 12+! Ever seen 400 Rummy nose in one tank, it's mesmerizing!
