been looking at the Calico ghost discus and the Koi Discus find them the same,,,,,,,,,,,,,
where can i find the gene map ? Calcio looks like a snow white or white diamond bass ..

Please be aware that I started this thread almost 6 years ago. Since then, we have had a multitude of new strains hit the market that are not depicted here. This thread's original goal was to have them all depicted by member submissions, not just mine. I had to go around asking sellers/breeders/sponsors for their permission to use their photos to have on the thread. If you plan on including a pic, please have it be your own, or please have explicit concent to use it from the owner.

With that being said, also keep in mind that many of the new strains are really just refined strains of what we see at the beginning of this thread. Strain development and breeding program aims are to selectively breed discus to have a speicific end game. Many times, this results in a discus not ending up looking like the original strain, but better in many ways. These somewhat different looking discus then get called something else by the owner because they have refined and developed it, but the lineage is an important factor here, and it is good to know your basic strains.

This just serves as a reminder of how many different crosses and breeding programs we actually have out there that I can no longer keep up with everything. If I remember correctly, there shouldn't be any albino here, because there weren't any when I started this thread (again, if I remember correctly).

After cruising this thread a few times, I realized that I DID have quite a few albino strains depicted. Pretty cool actually. I do not remember albino's being that popular when I made this thread initially, but now they seem to be more widely accepted.
