Nice Bob, VERY NICE fry + parents.
I'm sure I don't have to tell you to start soon with BBS, the parents need some help there lol
Hans
Very nice Bob, if anyone would get big healthy spawns it would be you with the great care you give your fish. You hit the motherload.

All advice I give, is because I've good results with it, you're free to copy it. It's not a rule, it's just my way. Ohhhh and don't take me serious, I'm most of the time kidding
what a great sight to wake up to.
The Brine is always going in this house Hans. Will probably start feeding them on Saturday morning.
Thank You all for the positive comments and for showing interest by following along.
A Thank You has to be sent out as well to Mike Beals of Central Ohio Discus for supplying me with this pair. You had said you were almost positive that this was a pair and you were certainly right. Thank You Mike !
Bob
That is a ton of fry Bob, that pair is a powerhouse!
All the best with them,
Eddie
Great spawn. The easiest way that I found to count a big spawn was by catching 5 in the net at a time. Anything else will just drive you nuts...LOL.

Your going to need a bigger tank

True! Too bad you're not closer! I just ran across a couple of 125 gallon tanks while cleaning out the garage last night. I would certainly loan them to you for a few fry!

Wow!
What an inspiring thread.
Thank you for posting the progress of this spawn.
Super photos too.
Wow, congratulations Bob!
What an amazing pair! I wish I can get a spawn half the size.
Can't wait to see them in a week or so? How long do you keep the frys with the parents? I was thinking you may have to separate them earlier for a batch that size, true?
Thanks for sharing,
Dan
Its coming up on 48 hours free swimming and the whole lot of them are still attached. Seems as though the male is doing the majority of the work. The female is helping out by giving the male a break every now and then but 80% of the time he is the food source. I started feeding a small amount of BBS twice today and did water changes following the feedings. Im pondering just how long to keep the parents with them and as of now Im thinking two weeks or until they become agitated. Ill post pics again at the one week mark.

Hi Bob,
What an amazing site mate, good on you.
I wish you well with the fry. Thanks for sharing with us all
and please keep us updated with their process.

Hey Bob
I'm shure you know this but with that many babies as soon as they eating the baby brine agressively I'd look at moving them, very stressful on the parents with that many fry......
Congratulations! What an awesome spawn. Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Well, the fry are 8 days old now and doing well. I had to remove the female at day six as she was getting very aggressive. The male is doing just fine with them. They are eating BBS and will remove the male in a few more days. Here are a few pics taken this afternoon.
