ACA 2009 lots of pictures

Some more discus pictures plus some Simply discus member pictures. The first picture left to right are Roberto (alpine), Angel (DiscusNYC), me, Francine (poppycat), Lynn (Lynn) and Angel's brother. The next picture is Mike Beals (CO Discus), Cary Strong, Roberto (Alpine), me, Larry matincheck (ShinShin), Jim Hall (yim11) and Randy Thomas (texasdiscusman).

Now the winners. I don't have a picture of Ken Davis (fishfarm USA) with his awards. The first picture is Discus Han's with his wife Joanie. The second picture is Mike Beals with his wife and the then his top winning fish. It was also NADA's first place winner. And then Angel with his brother and his top winning ACA discus for the discus division.

There were also several Simply members I did not get picture of Joe Mack and his wife Trish. Lisa and Ken Boorman. Mathias Scaglia of Discus Madness and I got to meet the guy who posts as jerbear. If I forgot to mention anyone I'm sorry.

I just finished doing a water change and it dawned on me that I also met the person who posts as Iowadiscus or it's DiscusIowa, so there are probably others I forgot to mention. I also see I didn't post the right picture for discus with sneakers so here it is.

I also want to let you all know that this ACA convention will always be know as the cheerleader ACA. It turns out there was a small convention center right across the street from the hotel that was holding a cheerleading camp. Every floor in the hotel had a different cheerleading team on it. They ran around at all hours in either their cheerleading outfits or bikinis when coming back from the pool.

There were a LOT of cheerleaders and they were constantly coming and going from the hotel, in and out of the pool - pretty much every elevator ride had cheerleaders on it...it was my first ACA and if this is how they usually go I'm getting a ticket for next years NOW!

But on the lighter side.........

While riding down 11 floors on a elevator with a drunken Elvis might seem pretty fun - it's really not. The guy next to him (the Kernel) was in a full white tux and no shoes/socks. Turns out he was Spencer Jack and was by FAR the most entertaining person at the banquet (even if he does hate discus). Sorry I didn't get him in the picture.


And finally - I had to extend my most personal Thanks to the Sheraton Hotel for the room with a GREAT view:


I had a great time and REALLY enjoyed meeting everyone!

Hahah man oh man- between the cheerleaders and the room with a view, seems like this was quite the year to go to the ACA...

Congrats to all the winners. It looks like there were some quality discus this year. I wish I could have been there.
