Default Week #11, Water change #11 (yes, I added one)

    Well, It's week 11 I think. LOL!

It's been very busy past two weeks for me and I got a bit behind in my update posts. Many apologies on that front. I did perform an extra partial water change last wednesday due to temperatures. That day temps in this tank rose to nearly 95 degrees. I had to be away from the house for longer than usual and it just got too warm. Other than that, these guys are doing fantastic! They are really getting huge and are beginning to really fill out the 110 gallon tank that they have called home since they arrived.

Anyway, nothing too new. Enjoy the pictures!

    Best wishes!

    Hey Chad,

Plants, fish and pictures are awesome.
Your discus look pretty uniform in size.
    Great job.
Hey, did your discus slow down between 4 and 4 1/2" then start growing again?
You are having life way too easy,.....able to get away from those fish again huh ?

    Take care,
    Bill

    Thanks Bill!

It's funny you should mention the slow down in growth and their uniform size in the same post. LOL! What I am observing at the moment is that the largest of the group did slow down a bit. The first month was about an inch of growth. The second about 3/4". This was just measuring the largest discus. You could see distinct differences between the largest and the smallest. Today it's much harder to tell them apart. The smaller of the group seem to be bringing up the rear and the bigger ones have slowed a bit. Everyone is still growing, just in harmony now. LOL!

Thanks for the kind words Bill!

Hey Steve! Thanks man. They are really growing nicely. I couldn't be happier. Are you back home now? I know your discus must miss you when you're gone!

    Best wishes!

Beautiful discus Chad! I especially enjoy seeing the group shots with the plants and wood. Looks like they are growing great in your conditions, thank goodness, since I hope to have that type tank eventually.

    Rick,

Warm water plants. LOL! I know, that sounds obvious. One or two days with higher than normal temps don't do too much to plants.

The plants in this tank are cabomba and some rotala. Nothing fancy. These are rapid growing stem plants. Although they don't look as magnificent as some other lush aquarium plants, these plants consume nutrients very well. Thanks for the kind words!

Great pictures Chad! Your discus are really starting to thicken up. They look super. I love the natural look of your tank. Does the cabomba make a mess?

Thanks Chris! The cabomba does shed a bit, but the overflow system typically takes fare of any free floating debris. The prefilter is pretty nasty at the end of the week.
