I am beyond excited! What a great sign for the future!

As of this morning, all eggs are white. I figured they couldn't possibly be fertile with the random patterns plus they are located right under the filter return. Just about an impossible scenario.
Anyway, these fish still seem too young to breed to me but then again I really am not sure how old they are. They are all over 6", so they are adults! One good thing I can say for them is that they are not egg eaters. At least not the first time around. LOL!
Best wishes!

It's a shame Chad but, at least they didn't ate the eggs.
When science and magic collide, the story begins.
So it seems a lot of folks got eggs for the Thanksgiving holiday, but I have to ask.... does it ever get easier with the ups and downs... I know I've been very excited every time my female lays eggs and I always hope for success each and every time. With laying eggs every week, I'm going to have totally white hair or none at all before too long.
Good luck Chad... I'm sure it won't be long before your telling us you have wrigglers with this bunch!
Good question David.
I think what happens is you sort of become numb to the process. I can remember when I had my very first egg laying discus in a community tank. It was very exciting and I was disappointed everytime something went wrong. I wasn't really trying at that point, but it still takes it's toll on you.
Anyway, hundreds of spawns have taken place in my tanks and now, unless I am really trying to get a spawn out of a specific pair, I don't do much. I like to let nature take it's course and if it's meant to be, it will be.
I know that just sounds frustrating, but it won't a few years down the road. LOL!
Best wishes my friend!

Thats cool your fish are spawning Chad, as someone mentioned, growing out some babies from them would definitely have you up a notch!
They look great and take care,
Eddie
Thanks Eddie!
Not too sure that spawning these guys/gals has anything to do with the contest though. From what I understand the fish from the contest will be rated like any fish submitted for scoring through the university. Spawning is never considered in that rating.
None the less, I know I'm going to have at leat one pair out of this group. That's a great prize in itself! Thanks for the kind words Eddie!
Best wishes!

That's totally awesome chad! I'm hoping a new environment with plants and other stuff will spur mine along as well. Great job bro!!
Hey Steve!
Thanks brother! I'm sure it won't be long and everyone will have spawning going on. I guess the only thing that would change that would be if you got all males. What are the odds? LOL!
Looking forward to checking out the new setup! Keep us posted!
Best wishes!

Gee Chad, I just saw this post (have been really busy lately and not much SD time). That is great to see and hear about your "youngsters" spawning. Wonder if your planted tank is making a difference in their being ready before others in bare tanks? First pic I have seen of your whole tank, top and stand. Really nice!!

Great to hear Chad about the eggs. Sorry their not fertile but at least you got them. Now thats you and Evelyn having eggs laid. Trying to put pressure on us or what. (lol) By the way your fish and tank are stunning.
