I took almost all of the water out of my tank and scooped them up that way. Didn't really disrupt the aquascape that much. Be careful though they jump.
The title says it all! I have two in my 75 gallon planted tank. I want them out. I just got six small discus, and I tried to get rid of the Foxes before, but it proved nearly impossible. I took out the rocks and driftwood, but unless I want to destroy my aquascape, I just can't catch them! Suggestions?

A stunted discus is like an ugly baby. You think yours is beautiful until someone has the nerve to say "Damn! That's an ugly baby"
I find it's easy to catch a LOT of species of fish while they are sleeping. Just leave the lights off for a few hours, then hurry up, find them and catch them with the net. That's how I catch Siamese Algae Eaters (SAEs) in a planted tank.

Try putting a decent sized net into your tank and walk away. Go back in 10-15 minutes. Chances are it'll be in the net when you return. It never failed for me when I kept SEA flying foxes in my planted tanks.

leave net in tank for a couple of days so the fish will get comfortable around it then put food inside the net. when FF goes in pull the net out quickly hope this works...good luck i know those things are a PITA specially in a large heavily planted tank

IMO Flying Foxes are the hardest fish to catch. Maybe leave a net in the tank and then bait it with a sinking pellet. Good luck.

I would get a tank divider. Trap them then move the divider as close to one side as possible then net em. Can you drain your tank a bit? Thats how I caught my 9! drained it and pushed the sand up to trap them. The net idea would be good too but if you are in a rush pull a few plants and start draining it. good luck though when they get hungry enough they will come out and then BAM! get your net out!

i use a plastic soda bottle with the top cut off and put back inside with the neck inwards and attach a line found this the best for catching foxes and loachs just put some pellet inside the foxes always first in
Thanks for all the suggestions! I will be going "fishing" tomorrow!
if its not too urgent try feeding them with a net for about a week or two, i have all my fish trained this way so that they will actually swim inside the net for food.

No luck yet with the "Fishing Trap", I guess that I will do a 100% water change and catch them that way. Will doing a 100% water change harm the Discus (if they are left un-submerged for a minute or two)?
No more Flying Foxes!! Caught'em!!
