you will have to use bleach mixed with water to fully sterilize it. you will also need to sterilize the tank that you were using that filter in unless that fish is still there and you plan on keeping it in that tank. i forget the dilution for the beach:water ratio, sorry

I believe it was mentioned 1 part bleach/10 parts water

Hello,

You can try to run a strong PP solution for 24 hrs with all the equipments, rinse with HOT water, let it dry for a few days and restart your tank.
