    Default seeded filter ?

Hi all, just wondering how long a seeded filter will stay seeded on a
    fishless tank ?

This depends, the bacteria do need an ammonia source but they won't exactly die. They will not be able to handle a large load immediately but they will do fine if you slowly add fish. You can always add pure ammonia to keep the load high. Also consider oxygen, they do need to have o2 to survive so you still need to run the tank/filter as usual.

Rubber band a piece of coctail shrimp to the intake strainer and let it decay, this should give you an adequate ammonia source.

Ok thanks for your input, today I used 6.5 ml ammonia on a 65 gal. I will dose daily till fish arrive also testing nitrite everyday and so far so good, no ammonia spikes or any issues with nitrite. Thanks again

    Just pee in the tank...

Or better, put the filter in a tank that has fish until you need it.
