South Florida Discus Club Forming

I want to let everyone know that Dan Espinosa (Elite Aquaria) and me are forming a South Florida Discus Club. This club is free and our plans are to have barbeque get together's 3 or 4 times per year. We are fortunate to live in South Florida and we will try to have a speaker from time to time like maybe Jack Wattley, Tony Silva or Marc Weiss. If you are interested in being a part of this you can either post on this thread or send me a pm or an email at zeusbdog@aol.com. If you send a pm or an email please title the subject line discus club. I would like to put a group email list together of all interested people. I went out last weekend. We cought over 60 schoolies, 1 huge bull and I also pulled in a 4 foot baracuda while trolling. (Kinda unexpected, lol)

There was schools of tuna all around us but they werent chasing our bait. If only we would have brought bait for them too we would have sunk the boat with fish. lol

I agree it would be awesome to see a bunch of discus lovers at a bbq.

I am glad that we are starting to get some people interested in getting together and talk about Discus. My wife is especially happy since now I won't need to talk with her about why my pairs are not fertilizing their eggs. Just got back from the 1st south florida discus club meeting. Had a great time and great to meet everyone. Dan and his wife are GREAT. Beautiful fishroom and everyone had a great time. My hat's off to Dan and his wife for hosting this first event.

I want to thank Jerry and everyone who came over to make this event a success. I know we did not have much structure to the meeting but that was by design. Moving forward we have a more formalized approach. Since this was the first meeting we wanted it to stay light and loose so we could get to know one another. Here are some photos that I took while we were eating.

We had 12 discus enthusiast including my wife and I.
